Kim Moon - Indiana PA

Kim Moon Restaurant in Indiana PA is your average Chinese takeout. It is located just down from the courthouse on Philadelphia Street. The food quality there I feel is above the quality of many other Chinese takeout restaurant, but on the other side, each time I have been there, the service has been a bit lack luster and the food was very slow.

I have eaten their Amazing Chicken, General Tso's Chicken and Szechuan Beef. I really like the beef and the two chicken dishes were pretty good. The definitely make up for the slightly disappointing service.

Food Quality: 7.5 / 10 Nice selection, but way too many, food has great flavor
Portion Size: 8 / 10  - Large Portions
Service: 5/10  -  Service is slow

The Coney - Indiana Pennsylvania

Image found on virtual tourist
The Coney in Indiana Pennsylvania is one of my favorite places in town. Its on the end of the main drag of Philadelphia Street in down town. They are an Irish Pub that serves predominately well known European dishes as their specials. I've personally had their Fish and Chips, Shepard's Pie and the Oktoberfest special that they occasionally run which were all very good. The restaurant is a dim lit pub styled diner with a lot of European decor.
If you do go, I recommend spending a bit extra for their Homemade Seasoned Potato Chips. They are thick cut home style chips tossed in one of their house wing sauces. I always get them and recommend, Honey Hot, they are delicious and worth every penny.
I cant remember what the entree was, but the German potato salad
was delicious and you can get a look at those awesome chips!
Oktoberfest Special
The last time I was in Indiana, we went to The Coney twice and unfortunately, I forgot what the first thing was I got, but I can guarantee, I have never had anything I didn't love from The Coney. The second Meal I had was the Oktoberfest Special.

The Oktoberfest came with kielbasa, a bratwurst, perogies, red and white kraut and spiced applesauce. The dish was very, very good, and my only complaint was that I couldn't fit a bite of everything onto one forkful. Each item accompanied the other very well. There were so many great combinations in this dish, I was finding myself mixing and matching each item until I found the perfect combination.

Food Quality: 9.5 / 10  -  Menu is predictable, but each meal is done perfectly.
Portion Size: 9 / 10  - Perfect sized portions, although protein, veg, starch can be unbalanced.
Service: 8/10  -  Service is very friendly and keeps up on the table fairly well
Environment: 8 / 10  -  Very cozy
Cost: 8 / 10  - Price is pretty reasonable
Overall Expectations: 9 / 10

Indiana Pennsylvania

Indiana County Pennsylvania has been one of may favorite places to work. I started, and was trained in Indiana and the system and clerks are amazing there.I have had the opportunity to go back to Indiana several times and am always happy to see that request letter.

Indiana county's seat is Indiana, Pennsylvania. Two things that the town is famous for is Indiana University of Pennsylvania and the birth place of Jimmy Stewart. The town is moderately large with several different hubs. Each of which have multiple dining possibilities.

All records are located within the courthouse. Through the main entrance to the left is the records room which contains all deeds, orphans court, estate, and similar documents. The old deeds are located below that main record room and newer ones on a computerized system. To the right of the entrance is the prothonotary and taxes, upstairs.

My recommendations are to stay at the Hampton inn there if you are traveling. The staff there is wonderful and the location is off the main drag but not too far off.

Every Day Is A Theo’s Day – Cambridge, Ohio

Theo’s Restaurant, just across from the Guernsey County Annex is a very convenient, very tasty, quick, lunch opportunity. They serve all varieties of foods, but mostly mom and pop style home cooking. I normally order sandwiches of which their turkey sandwiches and gyros are very good.

Turkey on Chipotle Marble
I see a lot of hamburgers ordered and the ever changing daily specials seem to be big hits as well. Occasionally the restaurant gets bogged down pretty heavily with lunch crowd and the service suffers, but for the most part the service is quite quick and very friendly.

Theo’s just recently got new menus which are very impressive, and the decor of their dining rooms are very nice.
Look at those nice new menus

Sky’s Coffee – Cambridge, OH

Right beside our main lunch spot, Theo’s, is a tiny coffee shop called Sky’s. Sky’s is no bigger than a large closet. It appears to be a repurposed display kiosk off the side of The Cambridge Performing Arts Centre called The Strand.

It's a little cramped for a good shot, but you get the idea.
Sky’s is probably my favorite coffee shop. They serve delicious homemade baked breakfast items such as scones and muffins and the best coffee around. Heather the owner and barista puts a great amount of though and dedication to her shop. The inside is very modern and colorful. The atmosphere is very welcoming and quite homey.

I have had several different coffees, but I prefer and highly recommend The Strand, a White Chocolate Mocha. The flavors are so perfectly balanced. You get a wonderful white chocolate flavor without dulling out the coffee flavor, and make sure to pick up a double chocolate chip muffin if they aren't all gone before you get there.

Guernsey Ohio

For a while I did some work in Cambridge, Ohio, county seat of Guernsey County, Ohio. Cambridge is a nice small town in East, Central Ohio. There are quite a few places to eat of which most that I have eaten at turned out very good.

Thanks Wikipedia
The Courthouse houses Probate and prothonotary documents. The deed books for this county are located in the county annex just down the street (look for Theo’s). In between these two buildings, down one of the alleys, is The Guernsey County Genealogy Society. The society collected a large selection of older books that were deteriorating in the other record rooms and can be useful if running out of options.

The main zone for shops and restaurants is about a mile away from the courthouse, but there is a handful down Main Street.

I left in the middle of November which is a very interesting time. The farmer’s market in front of the courthouse was closing down for the year and main street was getting a new look for the season. A group of individuals put up A Christmas Carol themed manikins all down main street for the holidays. It is a pretty neat sight to see.

Home Cook’in Down at Michael’s - New Philadelphia, OH

Michael’s in downtown New Philadelphia is a quaint  small diner/deli just a walk across the street from the courthouse. The food is fairly quick and tastes pretty good.
I ordered the Tom Sawyer, which is a turkey and slaw sandwich and the soup of the day for just under $10. It is by no means an easy to eat sandwich. I was lucky not to get any coleslaw down the front of my shirt, but it was very tasty. Sorry for no pictures.
I recommend having cash on you. They do not accept cards. The service is quick and if you want an in and out meal this is one of the best.

Food Quality: 7 / 10  -  Food was good, nothing special.
Portion Size: 9 / 10  -  Portions were good. Expect leaving full.
Service: 10/10  -  Server was great even for not being a regular!
